Please visit "Praying for Jason Holland" on Facebook for up-to-date information.

Jason grew up in Jacksonville, NC and after time in Greenville (Go Pirates!), Nags Head and Jacksonville again, he found himself moving to the sunshine state in 2007.  On May 19th 2010, Jason heard something that none of us would want to ever hear, he had cancer.

Just two days later, Jason underwent surgery to remove a portion of his colon.  During this surgery a spot was detected on his liver.  It was biopsied and both were sent off for analysis/tests.  The tests came back on May 26th which revealed that the cancer was in Jason's lymph nodes (automatically classified as stage 3) but the spot on his liver was NOT cancer.

On June 1st, Jason met with his oncologist and which resulted in the scheduling of a pet scan, diagnostic chest scan, and more blood work.

On June 9th Jason posted the following on the “Praying for Jason Holland” group page on Facebook: "Okay here it is, I'm stage 4, I have 7 tumors in my liver and 3 more in lungs and still have cancer in the colon. To put is nicely the Doctor has told me and my family to get my affairs in order now. I want to thank all of you for being great friends. I may not have always been the friend I needed to... be or should have been and I'm sorry. I am most sorry for my family and close friends that are having to accept what is now happening. Please pray for them as they need the strength. I will fight till the end. I am forming a council of dads for my kids. I want and need them to remind my kids of who I am/was and to be their for them at the drop of a hat and all special occasions. I have a time horizon and survival rate but I'm not prepared to share that now. I LOVE ALL OF YOU!"

Jason with the support of his family and friends has vowed to fight and beat this horrible disease.  This started on June 14th with a port (surgery) being installed (in his chest) immediately followed by his 1st 48 hour chemo treatment.

On June 16th Jason learned that he had been accepted into the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center located in Houston, Texas, ranked #1 in country. They have the best surgeons, clinical trials, research, and experimental procedures. Everyone told Jason to fight and this is the best place in the world for him to do just that. This will require Jason to fly to and from Texas for surgery and treatments.

As you can imagine, this would create a financial burden on anyone.  As a result, a network of some of Jason and Candie’s closest friends have gone on a warpath to create ways for people to donate, organize fundraisers, etc…  If you would like to contribute to this cause you can do so by one or more of the following:

1) Go to Wachovia Bank and make a deposit into the account "Hope for the Hollands"

2) www.humantribeproject.com/signup and follow the instructions

3) Use PayPal

    and/or

4) Send a check/money order to:

                Wachovia Bank
                Attn: Tammie
                1970 W New Haven Ave
                Melbourne, Fl 32904

We are still working on other fundraisers, raffles and events.  As they are finalized, we will post them on the Event Calendar and/or on the Facebook page.

On behalf of Jason, his family and mine, thank you all for the support you have shown and contributions made.  I would also ask that you continue to think of him and his family and pray that they make it through this tough time in their lives.

Additional thanks to Beth K, Chris B, Jason D, Tammie S and any others I am forgetting to mention.  You are truly making ideas become a reality.
